The new season for the Cornwall Seaway Winds is soon upon us and we turn into another month, another day to celebrate, the band is giving a time for love.
To Mom with Love, a Mothers Day concert will be presented on Friday May 10th at St-Felix de Valois Church, 7 p.m.
The Seaway Winds was founded by Barb Hunter in 2001. Barbs musical career saw her performing in Phoenix Symphony, Montreal Symphony Orchestra, Encore Brass Quintet and conducted the 306 Maple Leaf Wing Concert Band in Montreal. During her spare time, she taught Junior Highschool band in Arizona, Montreal West High school and Music Pedagogy Methods at McGill and Concordia University.
The concert band includes over 25 members, ranging from novice to professional musicians across the woodwinds, brass and percussion sections. The musical repertoire ranges from classical, renaissance, international, popular, modern, marches, waltzes and hits across the decades, promising a little something for everyone of all ages.
With Barbs rich musical history and experience, she soon had the band performing publicly, shortly after formation, in 2022. Since then, the band provides annual community concerts in May, October and December as well as Arts in the Park during the month of July.
To Mom with Love, promises the audience a heartfelt concert, with guest vocalist Janet Timms and familiar melodies; WInd Beneath my Wings, 5 foot two eyes of blue, Blessed are they and so much more.
