CORNWALL, Ontario – This Saturday, Oct. 28, hundreds of Sears employees gathered at the city’s Army, Navy, Air Force Club for the Sears Employee Reunion.

With music, food, and all the makings for a great party, the hall was full of hearty laughter and warm hugs between Sears Cornwall employees.

“We planned this reunion before finding out two weeks ago that the whole company was closing,” said organizer and retired Sales Manager, Bob Regnier. “We actually sold out the hall, so it’s going to be a good crowd, it’s going to be a good night.”

Regnier, who retired just two weeks before his 39-year anniversary, says he’s seen a lot throughout the years.

“I remember when they were still putting in the floors and walls,” said Regnier. “When I started with this company, they were so family-oriented, it was amazing. Not much has changed, in that regard as the years went on.”

Regnier says that getting employees together under one roof was important to the committee, following the closure of roughly 130 Sears Canada stores.

“There are some people I haven’t seen in years, and in a way this feels like a family reunion,” said Regnier.
