BEDINGFIELD, Frances Jean (Healy) – Passed away peacefully at Woodland Villa, Long Sault, on Wednesday, October 31, 2018; age 88. Frances was born in Montréal on June 4, 1930. Frances is survived by her beloved husband Robert Bedingfield of Aultsville, whom she married on April 23, 1952. Cherished sons Stephen (Lynn) of Yellowknife, John (Corinna) of Ingleside, and Stuart (Dot) of Mountain. Grandmother of seven grandchildren: Patrick, Raván, Jordan, Dustin, Stephanie, Samantha, Chelsea, and great grandmother of several great-grandchildren. DESJARDINS, Denzil Winston – It is with great sorrow that we announce that Denzil has passed away on Monday October 29 2018, peacefully surrounded by family at age 77 years. Survived by his daughter Kimberley Lalonde (Marc), Step daughter Carol Tallim Fung (David), Grandchildren Matthew, Neil, and Lisa, great grandchildren, and many chosen grandchildren and chosen great grandchildren. Also survived by his brother Ronald Desjardins and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his partner Huguette MacInnes, his brothers Earl and Desmond, and sister Yvonne. He was an avid fisherman and fishing guide, loved baseball (Toronto Blue Jays) and Curling. The family would like to thank all those who gave him excellent care, and especially Marian Watt from the heart function clinic who went above and beyond, and Shelley Carriere for her kindness and commitment to him. LAFRANCE, Isobel Elizabeth (Durouchie) – December 4, 1927 Summerstown, Ontario Our mom passed away on October 29th, 2018. She was born on December 4th 1927 in Summerstown, Ontario. At that time it was a very small farming community and she attended a little school house located on the main road to Cornwall. Isobel met Rolland Lafrance of Cornwall in 1946 and were married in January 1947. They had 6 children, Lionel, Vivian, Roland, Caroline, Pauline, and Roger. Our mom was always working throughout her life; her jobs included garment worker (during the war), waitress and numerous building caretaker positions. Our mom always made sure we were well taken care of. In later years mom and dad moved to Vancouver and enjoyed the warm weather for a number of years. She loved all her (10) grandchildren (21) great grandchildren and 1 great, great grandchild. She is predeceased by her loving husband Rolland, who passed away in 1998. She will be missed but not forgotten. The family would like to thank Brian Kennedy and staff at the River Garden residence, the Chartwell residence of Lancaster as well all the nurses and doctors at the Glengarry Memorial Hospital in Alexandria, Ontario. BENSON, Gerald – It is with great regret that the city of Cornwall has lost one of its most respected citizens as founder of the Benson Group (1953). Gerry Benson passed away at the Cornwall Community Hospital – McConnell Site on Sunday October 28, 2018 at the age of 78 years. As Chairman of the University Steering Committee Board in ongoing efforts to attract a university, he served as a true champion for the CIC (Cornwall Innovation Centre). Gerry received the Business Lifetime Achievement Award by the Cornwall Chamber of Commerce and was a recipient of the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal for his outstanding achievements. As the major sponsor of the Benson Charity Golf Classic he supported many charitable organizations notably the Msgr Rudy Villeneuve Foundation. Gerry was the beloved husband of 56 years to Claudette (née Carriere) Benson. Loved father of Marty (Gloria), James (Betty-Jean), Kelly (Lorrie) and Joy (Francois). PAQUETTE, Roger – It is with great sadness, but peace in our hearts, that we announce the peaceful passing of our father, Roger Paquette at the age of 91on October 10, 2018. Beloved husband of the late Louise Paquette (2004). Loving father of Denise Haddow (Tony), Michael Paquette (Brenda), and Denis Paquette (Denise). Cherished grandfather of Jason Haddow (Julie), Lisa Haddow Green (Mike), Karen Paquette, Robert Paquette, and Kathryn Paquette. Loving brother of Rene Paquette. Predeceased by his parents Joseph and Aurore, as well as seven brothers and five sisters. Roger was the consummate serviceman, always serving the community. In his working years he served the City of Cornwall for nine years as a police officer and twenty-seven years as a firefighter. He was deeply involved in the Knights of Columbus serving as Deputy Grand Knight in Glen Walter (1960) and Grand Knight in Cornwall (1969). Interested in both sports and education, Roger served as President of both the Cornwall Minor Hockey Association and the Cornwall Minor Lacrosse Association, and served as a trustee with the Catholic School Board. In his retirement years he was honoured at a ceremony in Kingston marking the International Year of Older Persons for his tireless work with seniors. It was his passion for service that compelled Roger, with his wife Louise, to found Cornwall’s St. Lawrence Senior Citizens’ Club, where he served as its first president. He was and always will be an inspiration to his children and grandchildren. Our wonderful memories will keep him close in our hearts. Family members would like to express their gratitude to all the staff of Albert House at St. Joseph’s Villa for the kind, loving, and compassionate care they gave to Roger. A special thank you to RPN Tammy Siegert, for her thoughtful and caring ways. As well, Dr. Foley for his attentive, professional care. MCKAY, Patricia Ann (nee McCarthy) – Age 76, died peacefully with her family by her side at the Cornwall Hospice Center on October 7, 2018, following a courageous battle with ovarian cancer. Patricia was born in Montreal on September 7 1942. She married Hugh McKay in 1962 and they raised their 3 children in the Montreal area. She worked for Bell Canada for 30 years before retiring. Patricia and Hugh moved to Ingleside in 1991 and have lived there since. Patricia is survived by her husband, Hugh, their daughters Leslie McKay of Montreal and Joann Johnson (Tim) of Colorado, and their son, Randy McKay (Amy) of Michigan. Her pride and joy were her 9 grandchildren – Brandy, Katrina, Riley, Kaitlyn, Dawson, McKenna, Charlie, Delsie and Ella. Following the war, he worked for Northern Electric and in 1962 Bert, Lorraine and their growing family moved to Monkland where he owned and operated Monkland Egg Grading as well as serving as the Post Master of Monkland from 1965-1999. Bert will be dearly missed by all who knew him. Prior to marrying, she was a school teacher in the small village schools of Magog, Quebec. Thérèse was the binding force in her little family. As a wife, a mother and a full time homemaker, she gave her love, her time, and her true presence, selflessly and generously to her husband and children. She was always that way, to all that were fortunate to know her. She spent countless hours at the dining room table, socializing with family and loved ones, helping her children with their homework, playing cards and games with them and with her grandchildren. Always with her family in mind, she baked a lot of traditional French Canadian meals, desserts and breads. She enjoyed reading, knitting, embroidering, gardening, doing laundry, and she quite enjoyed the presence of a dog in the family home. She had a wonderful sense of humour and had a most beautiful smile. She was in fact as beautiful on the inside as she was on the outside. A beloved memory of life at home, is that her joyful signing and whistling filled the house with love and warmth.
