When the crowds start flooding the gates of this year’s Glengarry Highland Games on August 2 & 3, they will be following in the footsteps of thousands of fans who have made this festival one of the most popular in Eastern Ontario and one of the premier celtic events in North America.
This year’s 75th edition of the Games will include the traditional Scottish events of highland dancing, fiddling, heavy events and piping that everyone has come to love and enjoy. To celebrate its 75th, the Games has added many special events making two jam-packed two days of music, tradition and heritage.
The Friday night Tattoo on August 2nd will be one to remember as Canada’s Celtic ambassadors, the Barra MacNeils, take to the stage. For more than three decades, this Cape Breton-based family group has been thrilling audiences of all ages with their captivating vocals, harmonies and extraordinary musicianship. Siblings Stewart, Sheumas, Kyle, Boyd and Lucy MacNeil along with Jamie Gatti will wow the audience with their own original songs as well as tried and true celtic standards. The Barra MacNeils continue to perform to sold out audiences throughout the world. From headlining major festivals, concerts, television specials, and their annual Christmas tour, they are one of Canada’s favourite celtic bands.
The Games are thrilled that the Barra MacNeils will take to the Tattoo stage to celebrate with us for our 75th milestone.
