CORNWALL, Ontario – Your Credit Union, a financial co-operative operating in Ottawa and Cornwall, and Bullfrog Power, Canada’s leading green energy provider, are launching the first ever bullfrog-powered mortgage program in Eastern Canada – the Green Home Mortgage. Through the program, homeowners who sign a mortgage with Your Credit Union will receive one year of renewable electricity for their homes from Bullfrog Power, courtesy of Your Credit Union.
Starting on June 1, 2018, Your Credit Union is offering homeowners an opportunity to make a real difference for the environment. When they secure a mortgage through Your Credit Union they will be contributing to a cleaner, healthier Canada by eliminating their home’s electricity-related emissions and supporting the development of community-based green energy projects across Canada.
No special wiring or equipment is needed to participate in the program. Bullfrog Power ensures renewable electricity is put into the grid to match the amount of conventional electricity used by homeowners. Bullfrog also uses the support of its customers – including Your Credit Union and its members – to provide critical funding to help develop green energy projects across Canada such as solar panels on schools and renewable projects with Indigenous groups.

Across Canada, Bullfrog’s green electricity comes from a blend of wind and low-impact hydro power sourced from new Canadian renewable energy facilities. Sourced from a unique, ground-breaking methane-capture project situated on one of Canada’s landfills, Bullfrog’s green natural gas is a climate-friendly alternative to conventional, polluting natural gas. Through innovative technology, biogas is captured, cleaned up, and injected into the national natural gas pipeline.
