CORNWALL, Ontario – It could be months before Cornwall grocery shoppers know if they’ll have to change their shopping habits.
Officials with Metro, a massive Canadian grocer, announced Wednesday six stores in Ontario will be converted to the Food Basics discount banner and up to three underperforming locations that will be closed.
Jocelyne Martineau, a spokesperson for Metro, told Seaway News specific decisions haven’t been made yet.
“We won’t get the full list for another six to nine months,” she said. “It might not even be stores in your area.”
Cornwall has one Metro operation on Vincent Massey Drive, but the company is also affiliated with the Food Basics brand – which has two locations in the city.
