CORNWALL, Ontario – Merchants will open their doors Wednesday night in a collective effort to encourage more local shopping this holiday season, and celebrate the unique businesses in the community.
Over 20 locations will offer the latest fashions, newest trends, tons of door prizes, and gourmet samplings, from 5 to 9 p.m.
This event isn’t just for the avid shopper – it’s for anyone looking to experience the city’s revitalized core. Included in the mix will be restaurants, salons, law offices, and much, much more.
“It’s about discovering downtown and taking advantage of all the great giveaways – everyone has something different going on,” said organizer Chris Munro, owner of Life’s Little Pleasures.
The second edition of Rock the Block comes on the heels of the opening of The Mindful Cookery & Food Market on Pitt Street.
Photographer Jason McNamara also recently set up a studio in a heritage building on Pitt Street, filling the space above Pure Esthetics.
“The energy downtown is good and is going in a positive direction,” said Munro. “We’re getting a new crop of innovative businesses, and retailers are really feeding off each other.”
Participating businesses include: Echo Trends, Studio 101, Laser Advanced Spa, The Cottage Blue, Love Love Food, Dreamland, Kid’s Korner, Kab Gift Boutique, Aube Freres, Cornwall-Oasis Spa, The Mindful Cookery & Food Market, Chesley’s Inn – Bed and Breakfast, McDonald Duncan Law Office, PURE Esthetics & Massage, Bar Q, Schulmans, Bicycle World, Alpins Interiors-Benjamin Moore, Spinners Diner, Pommier Jewellers, The Loft Salon, Fantasy Realm, Moustache Joe’s, and Life’s Little Pleasures.
