Marcus & Millichap Ottawa has been awarded the mandate to lease the Cornwall Square Shopping Centre that overlooks the St. Lawrence River in Downtown Cornwall.

The Retail Division, led by Candice Lerner-Fry and Fraser Paddison, will be directly responsible for this project with forty-year industry veteran, Richard Getz leading the effort on behalf of the Centre’s new owners, the Weaving Baskets Group.

“We are excited to work with this group and share in their vision for the redevelopment of the Cornwall Square as a leader on the Cornwall retail and community landscape,” said Mr. Getz.

Cornwall Square will undergo a multi-faceted redevelopment plan over a period of time, the first of which will be the total renovation and expansion of the Food Court, which is currently underway. Two new tenants, Juntos Mexican Eatery and Daily Chuck, specializing in Smash Burgers, have signed on to join Tim Hortons, Wok Express, Asian Wagon, Cedars and Sip and Scoop Bubble Tea in the Food Court. Three other opportunities are currently available. Renovation work is expected to be completed in June 2023.

Work is also underway on a new retail butchershop on the main level called Butcher’s Vault + Fromagerie. Plans are also being developed for the former Sears retail space and will be announced later this year.

Leasing Opportunities

At the same time, Marcus & Millichap is marketing for lease other retail and restaurant opportunities at the two-level indoor shopping mall which features 250,000 sf of space and is home to prominent retailers such as Shopper’s Drug Mart, Dollarama, People’s Jewellers, Coles, Hallmark Cards, Laurier Optical and others.

An ethnic or other grocer is being sought for the 25,000-sf space beside the busy Dollarama. A separate exterior entrance and dedicated parking make this a strong opportunity. Restaurateurs currently not in Cornwall or looking to expand will have interest in a new 5,000 sf restaurant space with patio overlooking Lamoureux Park and the St. Lawrence River.
