CORNWALL, Ontario – Sure, a new Cornwall business is quickly making a name for itself with its ice cream and food, but it’s the French fries they are most proud of.
Surinder Gill, owner of Capt. George’s Fish ‘n’ Chips in west-end Cornwall, said while people are raving about the fish, he said they often come back for the fries.
“We only use fresh-cut fries,” he said.
Capt. George’s, with more than 20 locations throughout Ontario, recently opened a Cornwall restaurant on Second Street West.
Gill owns another store in Brockville.
“We had people coming from Cornwall to Brockville, asking when we would open one there,” he said.
The opening was earlier this month.
The restaurant offers fish and chips, in addition to other seafood fare like shrimp, scallops and clams as well as something for the land lubbers including hamburgers and souvlaki chicken.
If you’ve got room left, Gill has also opened Cowan’s Dairy next door, which offers 40 flavours of hard ice cream, in addition to ice cream cakes.
Gill said his Brockville operation quickly became famous for its ice cream cake decorating, which included printing photos on the cakes.
