JACOBS, ONTARIO – May 3, 2023 — Scott Fines, Dealer-Owner of Fines Home Hardware Building Centres in Cornwall and Ingleside, has received the NHPA’s 2023 Young Retailer of the Year Award.
The award recognizes individual achievements by independent home improvement and paint retailers aged 35 and younger throughout the U.S. and Canada.
Prior to earning his professional engineering designation, Scott grew up working with his parents at the original Fines Home Hardware Building Centre, in Shelburne, Ontario. Influenced by his roots, Scott returned to the hardware business in 2016 with the purchase of two Home Hardware stores in Ingleside and Cornwall. Scott and his wife Amanda founded Fines Design & Consulting in 2018, an engineering firm that works in conjunction with their stores.
To keep up with their growing business, Scott and Amanda relocated the Cornwall store in 2020 to a new, larger property that boasts an impressive 35,000-square-foot building centre, a 35,000-square-foot indoor lumberyard and a 5-acre outdoor lumberyard.
Despite how busy he is professionally; Scott prioritizes being an active member of the community. He has sponsored and donated to 300 different causes in his seven years of being a Home Hardware Dealer.
