CORNWALL, Ontario – A local ophthalmologist has a new vision for eye care in the city.
Dr. Tarek Youssef welcomed several guests, including MP Guy Lauzon, into his newly renovated full service eye care centre at 127 Sydney Street during its grand opening on Friday, July 18.
Youssef has been practising in Cornwall for six years, and in his current space, Premium Vision Surgical Centres, for the last three, but the facelift has it feeling brand new.
“I think Cornwall deserves this investment,” said Youssef. “Because of the expansion many patients will have more options for top of the line service.”
His office, which is split into two halves, boasts several large pieces of sophisticated machinery.
The first half specializes in the clinical assessment of cataracts and glaucoma, as well as small treatments, and simple laser procedures.
The new edition of the office offers refractive surgery and laser vision correction.
“We can achieve even better than 20/20 vision in a significant amount of patients thanks to our top-notch machines, lasers and dedicated staff,” he said.
In 2013, Youssef introduced a new treatment in Cornwall for patients who suffer from Evaporative Dry Eye disease.
His new advanced treatment, called LipiFlow, treats patients with blocked meibomian glands, called meibomian gland dysfunction, by unblocking the glands and allowing them to resume the secretion of oily lipids needed for a healthy tear film.
Youssef considers Cornwall an ideal location to run his business since its surrounded by so many larger cities and borders Quebec and New York.
Many of his staff members were on hand to welcome guests into the facility and share a mini-buffet of finger foods and desserts.
