On Thursday, August 17, 2023, Cornwall Volkswagen welcomed adventure driver Rainer Zietlow to the dealership to celebrate his most recent Guinness World Record for crossing Canada with the fewest charges of an electric vehicle.
Zietlow and cameraman Elric Popp, left St. Johns Newfoundland in a Volkswagen ID 4 EV on July 25, traversing 7,133km in seven days. The duo made just 18 charging stops before reaching Victoria, BC on August 1.
Now travelling in the opposite direction, Zietlow and Popp are visiting all 145 Volkswagen Canada locations to share their story and success with each dealership.
“It’s my sixth Guinness World Record now and we love to do world records, especially for Volkswagen,” said Zietlow, who has partnered with Volkswagen since 2005.
When asked about his favorite part of the drive, Zietlow shared, “I am always surprised when I drive from Ontario into Manitoba – it’s a big landscape difference.”
