CORNWALL, Ontario – The Eastern Ontario schools of the Catholic District School Board of Eastern Ontario (CDSBEO) gathered in Cornwall on Thursday night, May 10, to celebrate their faith based education in song.
Sunday, May 6 to Sunday, May 13 was Catholic Education Week and the school board held events celebrating their education all week long.
Every year, one event held to help celebrate Catholic Education Week is the “Celebrating our Catholic Faith in Song” event, which was held Thursday night at the old GV auditorium, now a part of St. Joseph’s Cathoic Secondary School.
There were 13 schools from across the region in attendance that night with their school choirs ready to celebrate in song.
Last year’s event drew more than 800 parents and students.
“Parents are so proud of their kids and they love to get to see them perform,” said Natalie Cameron, Superintendent of the CSDBEO.
The event was kicked off by Holy Trinity Catholic Secondary School with the songs Ave Maria and From Now On and was closed by St. Joes with Don’t Stop Believing and Good, Good Father.
Baked treats were provided by the St. Matthew’s Catholic Secondary School’ hospitality class.
