CORNWALL and UNITED COUNTIES of SD&G, Ontario – Environment Canada is stating that there are severe thunderstorms in the forecast for the region.
Environment Canada has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch for Cornwall, South Stormont, North Stormont, South Glengarry, and North and South Dundas while North Glengarry is under a Severe Thunderstorm Warning.
“Severe thunderstorm warnings are issued when imminent or occurring thunderstorms are likely to produce or are producing one or more of the following: large hail, damaging winds, torrential rainfall,” The Weather Network says of the Warning.
“Persons in or near this area should be on the lookout for adverse weather conditions and take necessary safety precautions,” Environment Canada states on its website. “Watch for updated statements. Please refer to the latest public forecasts for further details and continue to monitor the situation through your local radio and television stations or Weatheradio.”
According to The Weather Network, thunderstorms are forecasted to begin in Cornwall at around 4 p.m. and can be expected to continue until 8 p.m.
In Alexandria, thunderstorms could begin as early as 11 a.m., but there will likely be a break in the afternoon before they start again at 4 p.m.
