Local law enforcement in the Cornwall area, will be undergoing Search and Rescue training between August 29 and 31, 2023 on the St. Lawrence River.

We would like to ensure that the public is aware that the RCMP, along with the Cornwall Police Service, Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Akwesasne Mohawk Police and Cornwall Fire Department will be conducting Search and Rescue training operations with the Canadian Coast Guard. These training operations will enhance our joint collaboration skills and response capabilities for waterway emergencies.

These operations will be visible to the public, who will experience additional boating activity on the St. Lawrence River in and around the Cornwall area. Activities may include loud sirens, use of loud speakers and other noises associated with complex boating maneuvers during training.

The pubic is asked to take precautions to avoid the immediate area and not to take any action that may interfere with the operations. This is all part of the training undertaken by your local enforcement agencies to keep your community safe.

The RCMP and our partners wish to thank the Canadian Coast Guard for providing this excellent training opportunity.
