UNITED COUNTIES of SD&G, Ontario – Environment Canada has issued a snowfall warning for Cornwall and the surrounding area on Friday, Jan. 12.
“Rain will change to snow by early this evening following the passage of a sharp cold front,” the warning reads. “There is also a chance of brief freezing rain during the change over. Snow at times heavy, along with local blowing snow, is expected to continue until midday Saturday. Total snowfall amounts of 15 to 20 cm is expected by this time.”
The high temperature on Friday will be plus 14, well above the previous record high of plus 6.5 established in 1988. That high will fall quickly in the evening though with a low temperature tonight of minus 9, and a high on Saturday of only minus 11. Sunday will be even colder with a high of minus 19.
