Man assaults girlfriend with bat

CORNWALL, Ontario – A 26-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on June 1, 2018 and charged with the following:

  • Assault
  • Threats
  • Mischief under $5,000
  • Assault with a weapon
  • Forcible confinement
  • Intimidation

It is alleged between February 2016 and April 2018 the man assaulted his girlfriend, hitting with her a bat on one occasion, and damaged some of her personal belongings. He also allegedly prevented her from leaving the residence and made threats to harm her. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. On June 1, 2018 the man attended police headquarters to deal with the matter. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing. His name was not released as it would identify the victim in the matter. 

CRIMINAL HARASSMENT, BREACH      

CORNWALL, Ontario – A 40-year-old Long Sault man was arrested on June 1, 2018 and charged with criminal harassment and breach of probation for communicating with his ex-common-law wife. It is alleged the man communicated with his ex-common-law wife on numerous occasions between Nov. 2017 and May 2018, despite being on conditions not to communicate with her. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. On June 1, 2018 the man attended police headquarters to deal with the matter. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing. His name was not released as it would identify the victim in the matter. 

ASSAULT

CORNWALL, Ontario – A 36-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on June 1, 2018 and charged with domestic assault. It is alleged during an argument on June 1, 2018 the man assaulted his common-law wife and police were contacted. During the investigation the man was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing. His name was not released as it would identify the victim in the matter.

ASSAULT, BREACH

CORNWALL, Ontario – A 28-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on June 1, 2018 and charged with domestic assault, assault and breach of probation for failing to keep the peace. It is alleged during an argument on May 31, 2018, the man assaulted his common-law wife. It is further alleged on June 1, 2018, the man assaulted his father, as well as his common-law wife, and police were contacted. During the investigation the man was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing. His name was not released as it would identify the victims in the matter.

DANGEROUS OPERATION, MISCHIEF, ASSAULT

CORNWALL, Ontario – A 39-year-old Cornwall woman was arrested on June 1, 2018 and charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, mischief and domestic assault. It is alleged on June 1, 2018, the woman assaulted her common-law husband and then drove in a dangerous manner, damaging a garage door. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. During the investigation, she was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing. Her name was not released as it would identify the victim in the matter.

OBSTRUCT POLICE, BREACHES, POSSESSION OF PROPERTY OBTAINED BY CRIME, FAIL TO APPEAR PRINTS

CORNWALL, Ontario – Sonny Ashby, 18, of Cornwall and Austin-Taylor Anderson, 19, of Cornwall were both arrested on June 2, 2018 and charged as follows:

Sonny Ashby:

  • Obstruct police
  • Breach of undertaking (failing to notify police of change of address and failing to abide by curfew of 11 p.m. – 6 a.m.)
  • Possession of property obtained by crime
  • Failing to appear for prints

Austin-Taylor Anderson:

  • Breach of undertaking (failing to keep the peace)
  • Breach of probation (failing to keep the peace)
  • Possession of property obtained by crime

It is alleged in the early morning hours on June 2, 2018, while responding to a suspicious persons call, police located the two men and found them to be in possession of two bicycles that did not belong to them. It is further alleged the one man identified himself as someone else and had failed to attend for prints on May 31, 2018. Both men were taken into custody, charged accordingly, and held for a bail hearing.

ASSAULT, THREATS

CORNWALL, Ontario – An 86-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on June 3, 2018 and charged with domestic assault and threats. It is alleged during an argument on June 3, 2018 the man assaulted his wife and made threats to harm her. Police were contacted and investigation ensued. On June 3, 2018 the man attended police headquarters to deal with the matter. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing. His name was not released as it would identify the victim in the matter.

BREACH

CORNWALL, Ontario – Barry McVey, 51, of Cornwall was arrested on June 3, 2018 and charged with breach of undertaking for failing to reside at a specific address and failing to notify a change of address to police. He was also charged with breach of probation for failing to keep the peace. It is alleged the man was found to be in breach of his conditions when police attended a suspicious person complaint and an investigation ensued. During the investigation the man was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.

THREATS

CORNWALL, Ontario – A 20-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on June 3, 2018 and charged with uttering threats. It is alleged during an argument on June 1, 2018 the man made threats to harm his ex-girlfriend and police were contacted. On June 3, 2018 the man was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing. His name was not released as it would identify the victim in the matter.
