LONG SAULT, Ontario – In Canada, you don’t need negative degree weather to host a hockey tournament, especially if it’s for a great cause.
This Saturday, that is exactly what John Clearly did at the Long Sault outdoor rink.
The Duvy Cup is played in memory of Andrew Duval and gathers funds that go to Recovery Cornwall with more than 50 people joining in to play.
“I grew up with Andrew and played a lot of hockey together. When he passed away I proposed that we do a hockey tournament in his memory,” explained John Cleary.
Each player pays $20 to play with all funds being donated, while afterward, a 50/50 draw collects even more at O’Neills pub in Long Sault.
