CORNWALL, Ontario – The City of Cornwall and the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) representing city librarians, paramedics, inside and outside workers have announed that they have reached a tentative agreement.
The announcement was made Friday morning, June 8, 2018. Workers had been on strike since May 16.
The union released no details of the deal as of yet, but did say that they would be recommending to their members that they accept it.
“Bargaining committees representing library workers, paramedics, outside and inside workers will be recommending the settlements to their memberships for ratification,” CUPE Communications Officer Andrea Addario wrote in a press release. “There will be no further details of the settlements shared until members have had an opportunity to review their contents and vote. Ratification votes will be scheduled in the days to come.”
There has been no comment from the City as of time of writing.
Most striking workers had been without a contract since 2016, librarians since 2015.
