Major drug bust on Augustus St.

CORNWALL, Ontario – On June 5, 2018 the Cornwall Community Police Service Street Crime Unit (SCU), concluded a drug trafficking investigation that resulted in the arrest of a Cornwall resident. A Controlled Drugs and Substances Act search warrant was executed at an Augustus St. residence, resulting in the following items being seized:

  • 323.9 grams of cocaine
  • 3.4 grams of heroin
  • 15.2 grams of marijuana

The seized drugs are valued at an estimated street value of approximately $33,000.00.

Muhammed Faruq Chughtai, 29, of Cornwall was arrested on June 5, 2018, was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on July 17, 2018. He was charged with the following:

  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking cocaine
  • Possession of marijuana
  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking heroin
  • Possession of property obtained by crime

The Cornwall Community Police Service is working diligently to reduce drug trafficking within the City of Cornwall and would like to remind residents about the dangers of using and selling illicit drugs.
