SOUTH STORMONT, Ontario – The Township of South Stormont has joined four other local municipalities in enacting a burn ban on Thursday, July 5.
“The Township of South Stormont Fire and Emergency Services has instituted a burn ban, effective immediately, throughout the entire Township due to dangerous burning conditions from the recent hot, dry weather,” the Township said in an emailed statement to media. “Fire and Emergency Services will continue to monitor the weather and will remove the ban when the conditions are appropriate.”
The Township joins North and South Dundas, North Stormont and North Glengarry in instituting a burn ban during the ongoing heat wave.
The Township of South Glengarry and the City of Cornwall both have yet to announce burn bans of their own.
