INGLESIDE, Ontario – The annual Firefighters Challenge was a little different this year.
To mark the 60th anniversary of the founding of the community of Ingleside, the Firefighters Association held a celebration instead of their usual challenge competition.
“The association wanted to keep the summer event so we are celebrating the 60th anniversary of our community,” said Jennifer MacIsaac, one of the event organizers.
The event was free to enter and had activities like a dunk tank, where community members like Leighton Woods and Josh Timmers volunteered to take a dip.
There was also live music from the The Shiners, Kilts, Riffs and Spurs and Hadrian’s Wall.
There were also live performances by the Fire Guy, a fire juggler and eater.
The South Stormont Fire Department also gave a demonstration of how they save lives when someone is trapped in their vehicle.
Before the night events of live music and entertainment began, the Firefighters Association presented South Stormont Mayor Jim Bancroft with a $5,000 cheque to go towards the Ingleside splash pad.
