AKWESASNE – The Akwesasne Mohawk Police Service (AMPS) and Sûreté du Québec (SQ) have opened a homicide investigation after remains were discovered on St. Regis Island on Wednesday, July 25.
AMPS handed the investigation over to the SQ’s Crimes against the Person Investigation Service and will be working jointly with them on this case.
At this time, AMPS state that they cannot confirm the identity of the remains that were discovered or the cause of death as the investigation is ongoing.
