CORNWALL, Ontario – Apples & Art returned for its 27th year. More than 20 locations across the region hosted 70 artists from Saturday Sept. 29 to Sunday, Sept. 30.
“The goal of the tour is to give the residents and visitors of Cornwall and area an opportunity to enjoy art in the spaces where it is actually created. It is a chance to meet the artists, to chat, to see their work in a natural setting and enjoy the wellness of visual beauty and friendly company,” reads a statement on the Apples & Art website. “The organizer’s would like to thank all the artists for their generous contributions to our 27th Studio Tour, and a special thank-you to our sponsor’s who helped us get the show up and running when the snow was still on the ground,” the statement goes on to say.
Tracy Lynn Davis of Cailuan Gallery in Cornwall has been participating in Apples & Art for four years and says that she loves the event.
“We have thousands of visitors that come through and we get to show everybody all the talent in Cornwall,” she said.
Cailuan hosted eight to nine artists this weekend which Davis said was an example of the great local variety that exists in the art world in the region.
Davis also pointed out that events like Apples & Art show the public how accessible local, high quality art is.
“Art is affordable,” she said. “People should shop local and support a local artist.”
