CORNWALL, Ontario – The Akwesasne Mohawk Police Service (AMPS) disclosed on their social media account that an off duty officer was arrested at the Cornwall Port of Entry.
Justin Delormier was arrested at the Port of Entry on Sept. 17.
The statement goes on to explain that Delormier has been on leave since 2016 and that he is no longer and employee of the Mohawk Council of Akwesasne.
The RCMP detachtment in Cornwall is investigating this matter, and have yet to release any information about specific charges against Delormier.
“Police officers are held to a higher standard of integrity and trustworthiness within a community regardless if they are on or off duty,” reads a statement from AMPS Chief Shawn Dulude. “The AMPS is proud to serve our community, we stand together for the protection of our community members and we stand to do the right thing.”
