ONTARIO – Forests Ontario is offering funding for those interested in planting trees.
Ontario’s 50 Million Tree program provides dedicated funding to landowners to plant trees with the goal of seeing 50 million trees planted by 2025.
Landowners can save as much as 75 to 90 percent of the cost of planting a tree. The only requirement is thatthe applicant have a minimum of 2.5 acres of free land.
“A successful planting project requires a properly prepared site, good planting stock, tree species matched to the site and soils, and a plan to care for the seedlings after planting,” said Wade Knight, Field Advisor with Forests Ontario.
