CORNWALL, Ontario – The third annual Lion’s Club Bed Race took to the streets on Saturday, Sept. 29, 2018.

Taking place along Pitt St. between First and Second streets, around 20 beds raced to raise money for a good cause, and also for some big prizes.

“All money raised will stay in the community,” said Kibby Lutz of the Lions Club of Cornwall.

Over the past three years the event has raised over $12,000.

There were two divisions this year, a student division, and a business division. Over a dozen businesses sponsored beds in this year’s race.

After the event wrapped up, the students who participated were treated to a meal at the Knights of Columbus club house on Amelia St. Later in the evening, the Knight of Columbus clubhouse also hosted a comedy show for ticketholders and sponsors.

Lutz said that the event is a unique attraction.

“I think there is a real novelty to it,” he said. “You don’t see it very often. We turn the whole street into a big party.”
