OHL Roundup: Flint Firebirds hold on to defeat Soo Greyhounds 2-1

SAULT STE. MARIE, Ont. — Artem Guryev’s first goal of the season proved to be the winner as the Flint Firebirds edged the Soo Greyhounds 2-1 on Wednesday. 

Braeden Kressler scored the other for Flint (10-7-1-1). Will Cranley made 23 saves in the victory.

Jordan D’Intino notched the Greyhounds’ (5-8-4-2) lone goal. Charlie Schenkel stopped 29 shots.

Kressler put his side on the board netting a short-handed goal with just 28 seconds remaining the first period. Guryev buried his goal 11:36 into the second to put the visitors up 2-0. D’Intino scored for the Greyhounds with just 2:06 remaining in the contest.

BULLDOGS 2 COLTS 1

HAMILTON — Avery Hayes scored the game winner with nine seconds left in the second period as Hamilton (7-8-1) pulled out a close win over Barrie (7-6-2-1). Logan Morrison notched the game-tying goal for the Bulldogs with a power-play marker 6:43 into the second.
