OTTAWA, ON — 3 July 2022 will be a special day for Catholics in Ottawa. The Papal Visit Pilgrim Statue will stop in Ottawa on its road to Edmonton to meet the Pope.

All are invited to come and see the statue of Our Lady of the Cape starting at 4 p.m. at Notre Dame Cathedral Basilica (385 Sussex Drive). There will also be veneration and reciting of the rosary. The visit will end with a mass at 5 p.m. presided by Archbishop Marcel Damphousse.

“The procession of the statue is a concrete way for believers to participate, in communion with the Holy Father, in preparation of his mission of healing and reconciliation with First Nations, Inuit and Métis peoples,” according to Archbishop Damphousse.

The statue is arriving from the national Marian shrine in Notre-Dame-du-Cap in Cap-de-la-Madeleine, a well-known area in Trois-Rivières, QC. The statue will also stop in Peterborough, Midland, Sudbury, Thunder Bay, Winnipeg, and Saskatoon before arriving at its destination. The full itinerary and activities surrounding the procession are available at: visitationproject.org/collections/papal-visit-procession
