CORNWALL, Ontario – JD Pogue’s 5th goal of the season with 26 seconds left in the 3rd period brought the Colts to within 1 but it was too little, too late as Carleton Place edged Cornwall 3-2 at the Ed Lumley Arena Thursday night.
Konnor MacCormick also scored for the Colts as their record drops to .500 at 12-12-3-0 (27pts) in 7th place in the CCHL standings.
Carleton Place outshot the Colts 35-24 with Liam Lascelle making 32 saves in the loss.
For their part, the Canadians are an impressive 25-2-0-2 and have earned 52 out of a possible 58 points so far this season to lead the CCHL and rank number 2 in Canada.
The Cornwall Toyota Hardest Working Colts player was Liam Lascelle.
The Pizza Pizza Three Stars were First Star Tim Theochraidis (CP), Second Star Liam Lascelle (COR) and Third Star Geoff Kitt (CP).
The Colts are back in action with two road games this weekend. Cornwall plays Hawkesbury Friday night in Alexandria. Game time at the Glengarry Sports Palace is 8pm. Cornwall then travels to Pembroke to face off against the Lumber Kings Sunday night. Game time is 7:30pm at the Pembroke Memorial Centre.
The Colts return home next Thursday to host the Brockville Braves. Game time is 7:30pm at the Ed Lumley Arena.
