TORONTO — Canada Basketball and Sportsnet announced plans for GLOBL JAM, a first-of-its-kind international basketball showcase in Canada, on Tuesday.
GLOBL JAM will take place in Toronto from July 5-10.
It will feature women’s and men’s teams from around the world competing in two under-23 tournaments at Mattamy Athletic Centre and broadcast nationally.
The event will also include festivities at Yonge-Dundas Square that celebrate the intersection of sport, art, and culture, as well as play host to the Canada Basketball 3×3 National Championships.
Recognized by FIBA, basketball’s world governing body, the GLOBL JAM tournaments will feature two pools of four teams competing in round-robin play.
Teams that advance to the semifinal round will meet on July 9, followed by the championship games on July 10.
Canada, Belgium, France, and the United States will compete in the women’s tournament.
Canada, the U.S., Brazil and Italy will play in the men’s tournament.
