CORNWALL, Ontario – Kin Week in Cornwall continues. The Kinsmen Club of Cornwall are celebrating their 87th anniversary this week from Feb. 17 to Feb. 22.
This week also marks the 100th anniversary of Kinsmen Canada.
It all started on Monday with free events at the Cornwall Civic Complex including a pancake breakfast, skating, and free swimming a the Aquatic Centre.

On Wednesday, the Kinsmen and the Kinette clubs of Cornwall presented donations to the Cornwall Community Hospital (CCH) and the Cornwall Community Hospital Foundation (CCHF).
The Kinsmen presented $5,000 as the final installment of their $25,000 contribution to the hospital’s Centre for Addiction and Mental Health.
They presented a further $25,000 for a new urology table for the hospital. That
cheque was presented by Wes Libbey, the oldest member of Kinsmen Cornwall and a prostate cancer survivor.
The Kinettes presented the hospital with their annual $1,000 donation.
“The things you have done have been nothing short of amazing,” said Amy Gillespie, Executive Director of the CCHF.
“It doesn’t matter what campaign we’ve ventured out on, the Kinsmen and Kinettes have always been there to support our goals,” said CCH CEO Jeanette Despatie.
Kinsmen Cornwall President Robin McIntosh explained that supporting community services like the hospital represented the best of the Kinsmen motto: Serving the community’s greatest need.
Wednesday night, in partnership with the Cornwall Police Service and The Port Theatre, the Kinsmen held a movie night for kids.
On Thursday, the Kinsmen and Kinettes were honoured by the City of Cornwall with the Proclamation of Kin Week. The Kinsmen flag was raised at City Hall by Cornwall Mayor Bernadette Clement.
