CORNWALL, Ontario – There were no injuries as a result of a Saturday morning fire in the city’s east end.
The Cornwall fire department responded to the blaze at the 200 block of Carleton Street at 12:57 a.m. on Jan. 10.
Four vehicles from both stations and a total of 14 fire personnel were on site to quickly extinguish the flames, but the inside of the residence was extensively damaged.
A source told Seaway News that the building was an old home converted into at least two apartments and that the structure was vacant at the time of the fire.
The matter is still under investigation.
