CORNWALL, Ontario – Tim Horton’s Bowl For Kids Sake returns for its 42nd year on Feb. 1 in Cornwall and on Feb. 2 in Chesterville.
For 42 years, the event has supported Big Brothers/ Big Sisters (BBBS) Cornwall. On Wednesday, Dec. 4, BBBS announced that Edith Sturgeon would be serving as this year’s honorary chair and that Tim Horton’s would be returning for the 14th year as the title sponsor.
Local Tim Horton’s franchisee Darryn McPhail said that supporting BBBS was important for the Tim Horton’s family, and for his family as well.
“Its all about the kids,” he said. “Not just with the brand, but we also have young families and we are at the schools and we want to support the opportunities that all kids should have.”
Edith Sturgeon has been a Big Sister for 35 years to eight different young women.
“I’m very honoured to be the chair of Tim Horton’s Bowl for Kids Sake this year,” she said. “I have great memories with all of my Little Sisters and I look forward to doing it for many more years to come.”
The event will have over $3,000 in prizes, including Tim Horton’s gift cards and a $500 cash prize courtesy of the Cornwall Rotary Club.
Last year’s event raised more than $60,000 for BBBS Cornwall.
“Tim Horton’s has been an amazing supporter of this event and partner with,” said BBBS Executive Director Ron Graham. “Thanks to their contribution and community’s support we’ll be able to assist 400 local youth through our mentoring programs.”
