CORNWALL, Ontario – Cornwall’s Seaway Valley Wrestling (SVW) will be starting 2020 with a bang as it thrusts itself onto the national stage.
SVW will be holding a joint Superfight event in Cornwall at the Nav Centre on Jan. 18 in partnership with one of Canada’s largest independent wrestling promotions, Destiny Wrestling from Toronto.
Current Destiny World Champion is the up-and-coming wrestling indie star Marty Scurll, who is scheduled to defend his title at the show in a Falls Count Anywhere match.
In total, there are currently seven matches planned for the card on Jan. 18. Two of those matches will see SVW stars go head-to-head with their competition from Destiny, including SVW’s Lil’Blay.
The main event will see the dramatic climax to a two year feud between Big Daddy D-Roy and Randy Berry who will face off in a steel cage match, a first for independent wrestling in Cornwall.
D-Roy took Randy Berry’s Big Time Wrestling Title and put him on the shelf after slamming him through a table, and Berry has been out to make D-Roy’s life hell ever since.
SVW Commissioner Alain Allaire promises that this match will be the end. There will be no disqualifications, there will be no interference, there will be a winner.
“This time no one can get in,” said SVW star Rex Orion. “This ends it.”
This past month marked the one-year anniversary since the debut of SVW, and Allaire credits the growth of the promotion to dedicated fans and supportive partners.
“We have great partners in the Nav Centre, a great DJ and Langevin Productions makes our shows look professional,” he said. “That’s why I feel we have a better product.”
“Per-capita, we feel that we are the biggest wrestling promotion in Canada,” said Orion. “We look good for TV and that’s why we are getting good feedback from our peers.”
The Jan. 18 Superfight show will be recorded to be broadcast on the Fite Network in the spring of 2020.
“This is probably the biggest independent wrestling event to hit the City of Cornwall,” said Allaire.
Allaire anticipates that the show might very well break SVW’s attendance record. Tickets are available at Fantasy Realm in Cornwall and at Shortline Convenience.
