CORNWALL, Ontario – Meri Fowler has been training in Ninjutsu for 25 years, and she has now brought her self-defense classes to Cornwall.
Fowler describes her classes as full contact self-defense combat that takes place in a non-competitive, supportive environment.
“This is real self-defense,” Fowler said. “It is a martial art that does not rely on someone’s body weight and there is no age limitation.”
She explained that as long as a person is mobile enough, they can do Ninjutsu, and that she has even adapted some of her teachings for those with mobility issues.
Fowler herself trained with and was taught by Stephane Meunier, a Canadian Master who operates Budo Montreal. Meunier was taught by the Ninjutsu Grand Master Masaki Hatsumi in Tokyo.
Meunier will be coming to Fowler’s school in Cornwall on November 10.
Fowler has been teaching private Ninjutsu classes in Cornwall since 2016, but has recently moved into the Seaway Academy located at 1150 Montreal Rd. in Cornwall.
