CORNWALL, Ontario – Broomball players from Ontario, Quebec, Saskatchewan and Manitoba will compete for the Juvenile National Broomball Championship in March 2020 at the Benson Centre.
The event will take place from March 24 to 28 and is expected to bring crowds according to Christine deRepentigny, Chair of the 2020 Juvenile National Broomball Championship organizing committee. “Interest is already starting to build for the event, and we are confident it will be a huge success,” said deRepentigny in a press release.
Cornwall was also home to the 2019 Canadian Senior Broomball Championships in April of 2019 which had significant economic impact on the community according to Kevin Lajoie, Tourism Co-ordinator for Cornwall Tourism.
“We know from past experience that events of this magnitude generate millions of dollars in economic spin-offs for the host community in the form of visitor spending on accommodations, restaurants, shopping and other purchases,” said Lajoie regarding the Canadian Senior Broomball Championship.
Major sports events are attracted to Cornwall for largely for the location, situated near airports and highways, but also because of the community according to Lajoie. “We also have all of the ingredients needed to host major events – great accommodations (and) sports and meeting facilities, a strong volunteer base and a supportive business community,” said Lajoie.
