ST. ANDREWS WEST, Ontario – No one was injured during a house fire in the village of St. Andrews West on Sunday, November 18.
According to South Stormont Fire Chief Gilles Crepeau, firefighters from the Long Sault and St. Andrews West stations were paged to a fully involved fire at 11:15 p.m.
“The house was fully involved on our arrival,” said Chief Crepeau. “We had to (begin) a defensive attack immediately.”
“There were 23 firefighters, two pumps, two tankers and two rescues were on the scene,” he added.
Cornwall SDG Paramedic Services and SD&G O.P.P. were also on the scene.
No occupants of the Haughton St. residence were home at the time of the fire. The house was fully insured.
The home owner, who was out of town at the time of the fire, is aware of the incident.
Fire officials are still investigating the cause of the blaze.
