CORNWALL and UNITED COUNTIES of SD&G, Ontario – Environment Canada has issued a Winter Storm Warning for Cornwall and the surrounding area for Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2019.
“10 to 15 cm snow has fallen since the snow began overnight over parts of Eastern Ontario. Total snowfall accumulation of 15 to 25 is likely before the changeover to freezing rain this afternoon or early this evening,” reads the warning on the Environment Canada website.
Environment Canada goes on to suggest that non-essential travel be postponed.
According to The Weather Network, the freezing rain is supposed to begin around 5 p.m. on Wednesday and will continue until around 8 p.m. when it is expected to change for rain.
Temperatures are expected to rise on Wednesday night to a high of 5 degrees.
