CORNWALL & UNITED COUNTIES of SD&G, Ontario – Environment Canada has issued a Freezing Rain Warning for Cornwall and the United Counties of SD&G.
“Several hours of freezing rain are likely tonight followed by rain at times heavy. Total rainfall amounts of 20 to 40 mm is expected by Friday evening and a rainfall warning is also in effect,” reads the Freezing Rain Warning. “This precipitation is associated with a major weather system from the Gulf of Mexico that is tracking northward and expected to affect Eastern Ontario tonight. Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become icy and slippery. Take extra care when walking or driving in affected areas. Be prepared to adjust your driving with changing road conditions.”
On top of the Freezing Rain Warning, Environment Canada has also issued a Rainfall Warning.
“Precipitation will start as freezing rain this evening followed by rain at times heavy. Total rainfall amounts of 20 to 40 mm are expected by Friday evening,” the warning from Environment Canada reads. “This precipitation is associated with a major weather system from the Gulf of Mexico that is tracking northward and expected to affect Eastern Ontario tonight. “Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. Localized flooding in low-lying areas is possible.”
