What We Looked For
When we were looking for the best firm mattresses in Canada, we kept an eye on a few important features. These are some of the most important options to look for as you shop for a firm mattress.
Type of Mattress
Mattresses have changed so much over recent years. Traditional innerspring mattresses are still around, but different types of mattresses have made a place for themselves on the market. Now, there are many choices when it comes to mattress type.
- Memory Foam Mattresses are constructed primarily of memory foam, a soft, supportive foam that slowly regains its shape. This means that you’ll sink into the surface. The foam will conform to your body, offering pressure point relief, support, and a comforting cradle. However, memory foam mattresses are known to sleep hot.
- Latex Foam Mattresses are constructed with latex foam, which is more responsive than memory foam. It doesn’t sink in the same ways, but it still offers pressure support. It also has a nice bounce and doesn’t retain heat like memory foam.
- Innerspring Mattresses are the most traditional type of mattress you’ll find. They use rows of connected springs to create a supportive sleeping surface. Very few mattresses you can order online are innerspring.
