CORNWALL, Ontario – Staff, local dignitaries and residents came together to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Parisien Manor on Monday, Sept. 23.
Staff reflected on the rich history of the Manor, and also announced their excitement to open a new, state-of-the-art facility with 160 beds by 2022.
The long term home welcomed its first resident ever in June of 1969 after the current location on Second St. was renovated to house 56 individuals. Originally built in 1929 by William A. Parisien, his youngest son Dr. Richard Parisien resided in the home after his father’s passing until he decided to co-own the Manor on a new venture, as the province declared its need for nursing homes. Throughout the years, various upgrades have been made to allow for further accessibility and comfort.
“The leadership really is here…there’s something about the staff, something about the team that really makes this a great place to live. I come in and see all the smiling faces and that’s what we look for,” said Trish Talabis, Regional Director of Extendicare Assist. Talabis also commended the Manor’s Ministry of Health compliance, overall excellent quality standard, front line workers and management staff.
Local MPP Jim McDonell and MP Guy Lauzon were in attendance, congratulating staff on the Manor’s longstanding success.
Executive Director Andrew Lauzon thanked everyone for attending, residents for choosing Parisien Manor as their home and was looking forward to celebrating with everyone and enjoying the live entertainment with everyone.
